The Children's Museum: a place for kids to learn and have fun while doing it.
Published: Aug 8, 2009
Located near the Aquarium, just off I-25 near downtown, the Children’s Museum of Denver is the place to take your young kids if you’d like to see them learn through play. It offers interactive exhibits, year-round special events and daily educational programming centered around a variety of playscapes.
The 16 exhibits include Click Clack Train Track, ARTS a la Carte, and Alphabet Soup: a magnetic wall swirling with letters waiting to be arranged into stories. At the Assembly Plant, aspiring engineers can design trucks, use blueprints to construct helicopters, and build buildings. Ready Vet Go encourages budding animal doctors to read X-rays, listen with a stethoscope and bandage broken legs. And what little kid wouldn’t like crawling through an anthill, settling into a bird’s nest or making a fort in a tree house?
There are lots of programs, from art and stories to science and nature. Every month comes with its own theme. July was all about Stellar Science while August is Messing Around Month: why should your children make a mess at home when they can make a really memorable one at the museum?
There’s something going on every day, too. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, curious minds can become Backyard Explorers, while Sundays are the time to join the Bubble Brigade. StoryTime happens every day during the week at 11:30 and at noon on the weekends. And everyone can become an Einstein on Super Science Sunday. Check with the museum to see what is happening at what time.
The Children’s Museum also holds special events, from Trick or Treat Street to its very own Birthday Bash, which is its biggest party of the year. The people here like to make sure your little ones have fun. Although children under eight will enjoy the museum the most, their parents will enjoy watching them laugh and learn for a few hours of a multi-mode educational experience.
