St. Julien Hotel indulges body and soul
Published: May 1, 2009
Since opening in 2005, the classy St. Julien Hotel has become a prime destination in the Boulder-Denver area for dining, drinking, spa treatments, relaxing and listening to live music — in other words, for indulging the senses, the body and the soul.
Whether you want dance to swing on Friday night, melt your cares away in a sauna or just linger over a sumptuous Sunday brunch, you'll find this hotel one of the best places along the Front Range.
The St. Julien has done its best to provide a venue for some of the area's best musicians and bands. There's something happening here almost every night of the week: a hot salsa band might be playing in one of the ballrooms while a jazz quartet jams in front of the fireplace in the spacious and beautiful lobby.
If you visit often enough, you'll hear island rhythms, too, as well as blues, covers and funk. On summer nights, the entertainment moves outside to the terrace. There's probably no nicer spot in the area to see and be seen among the mostly 30-plus crowd — or just to sit down with friends beneath the starlit mountains and have a drink.
Those who love massages, facials, pedicures and body pampering of all sorts will find the spa one of the finest in Colorado. The steam rooms, whirlpool bath and luxurious stone showers connect with the fitness center, lap pool and cardio equipment room for those looking for a more strenuous workout.
The hotel's food isn't too shabby, either. Jill's, the hotel restaurant, serves "Metro American fare infused with Old World flavors." It would be simpler just to call its good-sized portions delicious.
Oh, the St. Julien is also a hotel — and an award-winning one at that, making the Condé Nast list of the top 100 hotels in the United States. With 201 swanky rooms, it has become popular for small conventions and gatherings of all sorts, especially weddings. Prom-goers rent out suites for a special night, as do married couples celebrating anniversaries or New Year's.
