Description:
"For people on the streets, it's important to know that the opportunity is there-whenever they are ready. It's a good feeling to have, knowing that somebody cares about you and wants to see you do well. They offer a chance, and it's good to know that the chance is always going to be there." - Urban Peak Youth "Urban Peak helps young people overcome homelessness and other real life challenges by providing safety, respect, essential services and a supportive community, empowering them to become self-reliant adults." Bring a dish or make something at the shelter. I'll be there around 5:15, as I like to cook my stuff in their kitchen. We are free to use their utensils and supplies, including stove and oven. We will serve the kids buffet style and then eat with them. I usually get a few crazy stories out of them. The faces change every day, so there are always new stories to be told. You can donate your leftovers or feel free to take them home with you. Just a note: those cheap, foil casserole tins are perfect (expensive lessons learned myself). And you don't have to spend a fortune. I've been going every month for over a year, and am more than happy to offer any suggestions, answer any questions, or calm any fears. Please don't be intimated by the number!!! Your food is only a portion of a full meal and when we all pull together it works just fine. PROMISE! I like to theme my dinners. Please fill out the poll.
