Montessori Peaks Charter Academy Reviews

Both of my girls went to this school and loved it. The principal is the best ever (I wish I could take her with us to my childrens furture schools

This is amazing school! We have been at MPA for two years now and absolutely love it! Both of our boys have really grown and progressed since starting at this school.

This is our third year at MPA coming from a Denver Public School. I could not be more pleased with the progress my son has made. He seems to enjoy school again and thrives in the Montessori teaching environement. Parents are involved and staff could not be better. I would highly recommend.

I am very happy with MPA and love the school. staff and Montessori philosophy. As a previous Montessori student, myself, I feel that the school does a tremendous job. The amount of patience demonstrated by the faculty is wonderful. Our child is very happy to go to school every day. The amount of respect that the children have for one and other is great. We feel that the school is able to cater to every one of our child's needs. Very much impressed!

My family's experience at MPA has been wonderful. After a disheartening year of pre-school at our district school, we found MPA and were impressed by the individual attention given to each child. Our child's classroom was filled with children with many different abilities as well as a few with special needs. The teaching team (Ms. Gwen and Ms. Bev) did an exceptional job of recognizing each child's strengths while encouraging all children to explore and find meaning in their environment. These children are not expected to fit in a mold, rather to find their own place in the world through independent work and exploration. This classroom explored many concepts, (the solar system, constellations, igneous and sedimentary rocks, land formations, world geography) and this is only kindergarten! In addition the math and reading activities encouraged children to think beyond testing and look at the abstract. Our son's reaction to MPA: Great!

In the 3 years my kids have been at Montessori, we have not had a positive experience. MPA likes students who fit into a certain mold and don't require any work out of the norm - no more, no less. If you have a child who is special needs or who is advanced, MPA is not willing to pay extra attention to keep your child engaged. They are much more content to call your child a 'problem' child and ignore the amazing abilities that every child brings to the table in order to avoid the extra work and research it takes to teach to any student who does not learn by the traditional linear thinkers. The staff is also unresponsive and difficult to work with. We would not recommend to any family who wants more than a typical education for their child. We did love Patty Dwyer and gifted/talented program, however!

We are completing our fourth year as members of the MPA community, and the school continues to get even better. The curriculum fosters incredible math skills, and our first grader's teacher is focused on producing a love for reading. He is reading above level at this point. Science studies are being expanded (they had been a bit weak), and students probably know their geography better than many adults! Art, Music and Gym will all greatly benefit from a brand new second building currently in the construction process. The pre-K program shines, and our four year old is beginning to read while also displaying other areas of educational aptitude and personal responsibility. It's a bit more expensive than many alternatives, but is worth every dollar. The staff are all deeply committed to their work, and the results show. Don't let the average CSAP scores fool you, this educational experience is first

This is an incredible learning environment and a terrific community of families. These kids are learning to think and problem solve. They love being there, and are having fun learning. The teaching staff is loving, strict, and extraordinarily credentialed.

MPA is a school whose program has grown exponentially over the last few years with strong leadership. The Montessori curriculum is alive and well and offers a valuable alternative to the neighorhood schools. There is a committed and highly trained staff who daily demonstrate their love for what they are doing. The physical education, music and art programs are fabulous. There is a powerful contingent of parents that support the school and produce extraordinary activities both within and outside of the typical school day. After four years at this school I continue to support it wholeheartedly as the best educational environment for my son.

This is a fantastic charter that is built on a solid philosophy. Montessori methods are used in the classroom and the children work very hard in reading/writing/math. My son's teacher is top notch and the looping is excellent for building trust, and a personal rapport with the children. The playground is lacking and there is no cafeteria but they serve hot lunch in the classroom and the children walk to a local rec center in the fall/spring to play on a great playground. I am completely satisfied. I know some parents nit pick this or that but my child loves his teacher and has read 340 books this year (1st grade). thanks!

A very good program for Pre-K and 1-3 elementary. Have not experienced the 4-6 elementary grade levels. Excellent music instruction. High parent participation.

great school with dedicated teachers.

We love this school! Great parent involvement, and sense of community.

The Montessori staff are dedicated to the students and the school, and do a tremendous amount of work keeping the educational standards high. However, they often do this in spite of administration mismanagement and disregard for the success of all students. There is not an atmosphere of complete trust between staff and administration, nor is there consistent support of staff by administration.

MPA has been a lifesaver for our student. Nine year old boy who is loving the hands-on learning Montessori uses. This is his first year here in the 4th grade. Only downfall...we waited 4 years!

At the present time, MPA lacks effective principal leadership. He has not improved the school and doesn't seem to have the leadership skills or the ability to effect change. To the contrary, he seems to create divisiveness among teachers as well as parents. Outside educational sources have rated our school 'average' with a 'decline' in advancement. This is unacceptable.
