“I was a student for almost my entire K-12 education. I loved my time in elementary school (especially my piano lessons) and am still in contact with some of my former teachers. High school marked a huge transition for me and found myself frustrated with academics and learning, but threw myself into music and sports. My choir directors, without a doubt, changed my life. I felt that my foreign language teacher was one of the best of my entire jr.high/high school experience. My experience at MCC was a mixed bag. There were things I both hated and loved. I think that the elementary departments are superior, but junior high and high school lack in several extra-curricular & academic areas. I did not feel academically prepared once I entered college for many reasons, but hard work & dedication (outside of MCC) certainly changed that.”

“THE BEST! All 3 of my children have attended there from preschool through 12th grade. They all graduated from Maranatha with top honors and GPA above 4.0. Two attend Colorado School of Mines, and one is at Regis University. Many graduates have earned great scholarships, including my children and their friends. As with any school, the success of your child is directly related to YOUR INVOLVEMENT. Maranatha staff and administrators go out of their way to give personal, loving attention and your child will have every opportunity to excel. “Our kids have attended Maranatha for years and we are still impressed at the quality of education they receive. The campus is beautiful and always so clean. I love their committment to the Lord and the dedication shown to the kids. When I drop them off in the morning, they are always so happy to go into their classes. My 2nd grader needed help with Spelling and the after school help that Maranatha provided brought his grade up to a high B. We're very pleased.”

“I've heard a few negative comments about this school and I can say, they aren't true. Most of these negative comments are from students who just don't like school. I mean think about it, who out there has never had a teacher or class they just didn't like. All of us have, every single one of us who have ever attended any school no matter what grade has had a class or teacher they just didn't like, so they allowed it to ruin their whole school expierence. Well I can tell you that MCC is a really great school. Everyone who works there is committed to the education of every child that attends. No matter what grade. They believe that every child should succeed and they are committed to them.”

“As a teacher it's great to have small class sizes. You actually get to know the students, their personalities and how they learn. With a senior class of 19 in my Bible class we could interact, joke around, and still get serious study done.”

“Wow! We just had graduation at Maranatha and what a huge blessing it has been for our son who has been there for 13 years. He has excelled in every way. Academically, spiritually, athletically. He has been accepted to Pepperdine, with academic, leadership, & Christian Character scholarships. The president of Pepperdine Dr Benton said they are seeking kids from Christian schools such as Maranatha. We have 2 other children at Maranatha as well. We love this school and would highly recommend it. They call kids to a higher standard and do not lower the bar for anyone. Some kids do not like that. Most believe it is a must and are made better because of it.”

“My children have gone to MCC since Kindergarten, they have thrived in every way. One is graduating this year and looking at an academic scholarship at a great University. It is in large part due to this school. Remember this school is not affiliated with any church, and does not get any government money. The administration does an excellent job at making the most of every hard earned dollar each parent pays in tuition. They are good stewards. I have also worked there 3 years and have seen everything first hand. Structure, respect, academics and adhering to Christian biblical views are at the top of their list.”

“This school is not a good choice because of several factors. It is profit driven and has a lot of hidden fees, it is lacking in scholarship (academic and biblical), and it has a restrictive culture. Both of my children have excelled since leaving Maranatha. I advise looking somewhere else.”

“If you are considering a private school and/or Christian education for your child, I highly recommend Maranatha Christian Center. I have two children at Maranatha - both attended public schools before attending Maranatha - and the results are amazing!! Within a few months, both of my kids began to excel academically and spiritually. The teachers really care about the kids, love their jobs and ensure that each of the kids gets whatever assistance is needed to do their best. Maranatha also offers a great sport program and wonderful playgrounds for the younger kids. The school isn't perfect - has room for improvement just like every other school - but I'm so thankful that my kids have this opportunity.”

“I have two daughters 4 & 5.5 enrolled in pre-school and 1st grade. My older daughter has been with Maranatha for 3 years. The quality of education is phenomenal!!! My daughter will be in first grade and she is reading at a 3rd grade level. My husband and I grew up Catholic and are practicing Catholic. I love the warm Christian environment that MCC offers. The teachers are fantastic and the best part of this school is the discipline. My daughter is able to learn and not be distracted by discipline problems and kids whose parents are not involved. The parental involvement is excellent and it is obvious that the parents whose kids attend MCC are invested and committed to their kids education. Maranatha teaches phonics which is a superior learning philosophy compared to whole language. Maranatha teaches kids how to think not what to think.”

“Both of my children attended Maranatha for less than six months before we took them out. Prior to moving to Colorado my wife and I had searched long and hard for what we believed to be a high quality school. The administration assured us of high academic standards and valuable extracurricular activities. I am sorry to report that this is not the case. Aside from being sorely disappointed in the academics, the culture of Maranatha is where the bigger problems lie. I have been a Christian for 22 years and have been a part of numerous Christian communities throughout the country but I have never witnessed such poor Christian behavior. The details are unnecessary, please heed the advice of others who have had the courage to speak the truth about this school. I do not recommend it to anyone.”

“We have seven sons, ages 5 to 25, and we began with Maranatha almost 20 years ago. We prefer homeschooling, but Maranatha is so well run, and such a blessing, that we've had our boys in the scool on and off for two decades. We enrolled our 6-year-old into 1st Grade at Maranatha for 2006. MCC is very strong in academics, college prep, sports, a gorgeous 20-acre wooded facility, and the student body is the most respectful I've seen in my fifty years in and around schools. Overall, a very well run Christian facility, pre-school thru 12th Grade.”

“My son has been at MCC for two years. He began going at age 2 1/2 just after he was potty trained. MCC is a private Christain school. The environment is very warm, comfortable and friendly. The classes are small. The rooms are carpeted and bathroom toilets and sinks are lower to the ground to make it easy for children to take care of their own needs. The teachers are very nurturing and have reinforced learning great habits (like cleaning up toys after he's done with them) as well as giving him a strong foundation for reading, writing and math. The cost is reasonable for a private school. The curriculim is structured, but still leaves time for play and creativity. Our experience with our 2-4 year old has been very positive.”

Also has introductory engineering program for high school students (drafting and CADD). 3. Many parents are involved at different levels in all grades (pre-school through high school). 4. “Maranatha is a great elementry school. It is small and will allow you and your child to form special friendships. There is alot of emphasis on living everyday as a good Christian. This does not mean that every other word is 'praise the lord', it just means that there is alot of respect and consideration bewteen EVERYONE. The academic program is excellent. Your child will have an advanatage over any child his/her age. I truly believe that Maranatha forms a great foundation for future learning. No after school activities for the elementry age children or than daycare. They do offer expensive, but for the most part, great summer camps. While there is no cafeteria, lunch is catered in - pricy. But I would not let that be the deciding factor. The kids not seem to mind eating lunch in the classroom.”

The availability of extraciricular activities is limited and the overall experience I had as a parent at this school was disappointing. Both of my children have excelled in private and public schools prior to Maranatha. They were not challenged properly and therefor did not excell at this school.”

“My 3 year old is new to the pre-school, but so far we are very impressed. Their facilities are wonderful and the staff is very caring. At 3, they are already counting to 30, writing the alphabet and learning letter sounds. We have been told that it's typical for the children to be reading at 4. Aside from the strong academics, they seem to have plenty of time for art, music, outdoor play, etc. They also have many opportunities for family involved activites each year.”

“As a current elementary teacher I must say that my experience at this school has been poor. The interest of the board is driven by profit. I have been a teacher at two other public schools and am sad to say that this is the worst,(educational and ethical) school of which I have ever been a part. There are teachers and administators who are truly interested in our children, regretfully not at Maranatha.”

“The negative aspects of this school drastically overshadow the positive qualities. Unfortunately I had to take both of my children out of this place after the first year. My youngest, in sixth grade, was continually supressed for being 'too motivated' to participate in extraciricular activities(which are quite limited). My oldest, a junior in highschool encountered strong opposition from the administration and teachers when he questioned the theological perspectives held by them. With limited perspectives and activities, this school leaves much to be desired.”

“Our children have attended Maranatha for 10 years. Not only are the teachers caring and kind, they are very dedicated to giving their students the best education possible. Our 11th grade son has received numerous mailings from many top schools, such as Columbia, Colorado School of Mines, and Cal Tech. We don't think that our sons could have received a better education anywhere else in Colorado.!”

“I was a student at this school. The basic concept of the school is to teach Christian values. Unfortunately children learn from what they see and not what they are taught. I was annoyed to find that the administration was over-controlling and rediculous. They would force us to go to Bible Class every day and we didn't even learn much. Now that I have grown up, I truly understand the nature of this school. It is an institution to mold the brains of children to think the way that they want you to think. If you even step slightly out of bounds for being a free thinker, you get the Bible (and the administration) pounding their beliefs over your head. Some of the teachers were qualified to teach. Others were not. The music program was deplorable. I would never send my children to this school.”

“I attended MCC Pre-K through 12th grade. I went to their church with my family for 10 yrs. I was employed as a teacher and grounds keeper for 4 yrs. Unfortunately the location is the only thing ideal about this institution. The central operating philosophy of these people is by no stretch of the imagination Christian. It is an environment that perpetuates fear, control, and ignorance. I strongly discourage anybody who is truly interested in progressive learning to even consider this place. The hypocrisy and exclusivity of the addministration is deplorable. The good intentions of the teachers do not surface as the control excercised over them is unnecessary and oppressive.”

“My 2 children attended from pre-K to 2nd grade before moving out of state. Both of my children are above national standards and I attribute that to the teachers. They've been taught high values in life in a very important time in their lives. The teachers are not perfect so when issues arise, you must address it with them to correct any problems immediately. When a problem did arise, I was very satisified with the outcome. Safety was never an issue that I worried about. Their standards are very high, but watching all the children in the classes, I was able to see that the children have learned respect and how to follow directions (not the case in public schools). Based on our experience, I would recommend this school to anyone in elementary grade. One area they do lack is activities for the younger grades, unless you pay more”

“I was a student at maranatha from first grade through nineth. The Teacher quality is one area that this school lacks in the teachers care more about their paycheck than they do about the children. Dont get me wrong there are a few good ones but over all they are selfish. The safety and discipline was outstanding, there is no school more safe and strict on their rules than Maranatha the students are afraid to step out of line sometimes it felt like a prison. In my opinion I would not send your son or daughter to this school.”

I know that the Christ-centered, Biblically-based curriculum and environment is not for everyone. Holding students, staff, and parents accountable to a Biblical standard (Romans 12:2) is part of what MCC is all about. I appreciate the dedication and faithfulness of the entire staff in their ministry to all students and parents at MCC! The high standards of academic excellence will assure that your child (if he or she attends MCC) will be able to achieve any goal you may have academically. The campus is beautiful and the peaceful atmosphere is unmatched anywhere else in Colorado. A great school!”

“I was a former teacher there for 3 years; so I have the 'inside scoop!' I think that there is some wonderful teaching going on; the Administrators are more interested in appearences, and your money than they are your student! There is a culture of absolute control that is distinctly unhealthy; they seem to take pleasure in verbally abusing both teachers and students under the guise of 'counseling.'”

“Maranatha provided a great learning environment and atmosphere for my son while in elementary school. Now in the 9th grade we have had enough with the unacceptance from the 'board'. Once children reach middle and high school, the loving accepting culture turns to one of distrust and unacceptance of any thought other than the ones the school deems proper. Heaven forbid that a young adult actually have a mind of his/her own. The entire secondary staff is very determined to 'teach' children how and what to think! They will even try to tell you what to think and teach in your own home! This school has felt more like a cult than a school lately, and these last two years have started to turn my son off to Christianity which breaks my heart. He thinks the entire staff are hypocrites! Yes, I actually do let him form thoughts & opinions!”

“I have 2 children that have attended Maranatha for the last 5 years. The school is excellent academically. Every grade is one to two grade levels above the grade. When my children graduate I know that they have a great education that will allow them into just about any college. It has a strong moral grounding with the most loving teachers I have ever had to work with. The school is run very tightly, so I know that my children are safe every second that they are there. Their weakness in extacurricular activities is eaily supplemented through any number of venues.”
