Aspen Academy Reviews

Aspen unveiled their plans for middle school restructuring this week. New director will be the current music teacher and will still report to the HOS. Three of four excellent core middle school teachers are leaving. Fourth teacher has only been at Aspen for 1/2 year. Aspen is promoting a vision for the future, but nothing has really changed except for added layers of administration. Parents should demand better contracts and more accountability from the HOS. The teacher turnover problem is more than just growing pains. My family is locked into our contract for next year because we awoke to the realities too late, so we will stay at Aspen. We will promote real change and accountability for the HOS to change her tactics that have driven off excellent teachers. Our kids suffer the loss of great teachers, but she distracts them with empty promises of cool stuff for next year.

The comments regarding retaliation certainly fit my experience. Every day for me was anxiety-filled, with middle school teachers so preoccupied with keeping the HOS happy that there was little energy for anything else. There was definitely a hierarchy of treatment that I witnessed toward families, with great measures taken to cater to donors and board members. Sadly, families were often led to believe that teachers were returning until after parents had already signed/paid for next year; I certainly wasn t able to share that I was forced out (or asked why by the board). I adored the Aspen Academy families I worked with and can t think of a single teacher who didn t give 100% every day, but the retribution and intimidation I experienced and perceived (and perception is reality) created a distressful environment with the lowest morale of any place I've ever taught. This school has potential, but the administration must change.

The last 3 reviews are right on - would also like to add that educating children has been replaced with school renovations as top priority. Plans are in place to add frivolous space like a work out room while teacher bonuses are expected to come from fundraising opportunities. For the most part the teachers are quite good but don't get the respect they deserve from the admin. Aspen Academy has high hopes but falls short of them.

I was a teacher at Aspen, and left last year. I left for many of the reasons mentioned here, and appreciate that some parents have realized that honesty isn't the policy because retribution IS rampant and mostly from admin. I was not able to be completely honest about why I left, though no board member ever asked me. I am sad to hear that only 4 classroom teachers that I worked with LAST YEAR will still be at Aspen next year, but I am hoping for the sake of Aspen's amazing students and families that the board will take real, honest action and put a leader in place who lead this school in a positive, academically oriented direction.

We are very disappointed and frustrated - things seem to be going from bad to worse. We are now being bombarded with suggestion cards, surveys, but it is all too little, too late. Parents that are leaving because of issues have 'checked out' so they aren't going to get honest feedback. Yes they are trying but it seems a weak way instead of facing parents and tackling the issues head on. It should have been done in December before families choose to go elsewhere. We are seeing too many teachers leave and sadly as parents we get to know the real deal of what is happening. A lot of families in Middle School have not re-enrolled and we feel very sorry for new families coming in who probably aren't been told just how many will be in that class next year. A public forum with the Board would be nice

As others have said, not a positive place for students or families, but mostly for those who teach. Our child would never get to see teachers because good ones all leave. The turnover is the result of a Head of School who listens to no one, misleads the Board and will not meet with an entire group of parents/staff at once to discuss problems because telling us all something different while separate is preferred. When we compare notes, we've all been told something different and nothing truthful. Our child wilted and our family suffered. Like others, we were not honest about why we left because we saw retaliation all around us. AA is not a healthy place for families that really know what education is about and what it should look like. Telling us to write positive comments to counter bad, but truthful ones, was the final straw.

After 2 mediocre years at a Public School with large class sizes, I needed to move my kids. After much research, we chose Aspen Academy and it was the best decision we could have made for our kids. They have become completely different kids at Aspen Academy. They have flourished with the individualized attention, caring atmosphere and challenging curriculm. We have been so pleased with our decision to send our kids to Aspen. They are truly happy and actually enjoy school and have grown in confidence and self awareness. We have found the teachers to be fantastic and the families wonderful! I realize not every school is perfect or right for everyone, but we couldn't be happier with Aspen Academy for our kids as well as our entire family.

This is our third year at Aspen Academy and we couldn't be happier. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the teachers we've experienced here. We never have to wonder if our child is going to have a phenomenal teacher. We could not have asked for a better educational experience for our child. AA is not a perfect school, but I find you get out what you put in. I also find that a lot of the reasons people get frustrated with the HOS is because parents believe every rumor without question. We have found lifelong friends with many parents. I do wonder if some parents say whatever they need to say to get admitted, but when it comes down to following through and being involved and helping our teachers they seem to not follow through as well.

Whether you love or hate Aspen is not a matter of personal preference. People are treated differently. If you buy the sales pitch and never question the administration, you will like the school. I did for almost two years. But if you question the management and don't accept falsehoods or charming anecdotes as real solutions, you will see the darker side of the school's administration that has been reported here. Don t expect the board to take action. The board includes three staff members, no teachers, and a few parent members who do not question what they are told by the HOS. In practice, the HOS is not accountable to anyone, and complaints never get beyond her. Parents who leave the school, like us, lie about their reasons for leaving for fear of retaliation. We love the teachers, but can t continue watching them burn out and be replaced year after year.

A mixed bag at best. We've been at the school for a couple years with two children in different grades. This is a school that tries so hard that it completely misses some important things. They want too much to be recognized and don't pay enough attention to getting the basics right. Unfortunately, the very items that they promote: individualized plans, kindness and community, creativity and personal responsibility are the very areas where it struggles the most. They academics are mixed: some good curricula and some not, some good teachers and some not. But I haven't found a school that does academics consistently well. But over all it's disappointing because the school has great potential. Hopefully they will pay more attention to how they can improve and spend less time telling the world how great they are.

I fully agree with the last review that this school promises a lot and delivers little. Teacher are great, but attitude of the administration driving teachers and students away and I don't see how this school can be a success in the long term. The best way to have this school put on the right path will be to get rid of head of school ''Kristina Scala'.
This review was posted by a parent.

This school has not delivered as promised and has ben an exhaustin experience. We are glad to be moving on next year. My middle school age child has had multiple new 'teams' of teachers in the past few years, and it seems like the better the teacher the shorter the amount of time the head of school can hold on to them. Each year we are told they are all reurning, then each August we find diferent teachers. Sadly, our younger child has come home crying because she feels that certain kids get better treatment than others, and interestingly enough it seems that parents are ranked too. The head of school promises much, delivers little, then lies to cover her tracks. Why the board hasn't replaced her is beyond comprehension.

Reading through these reviews tells me you either love Aspen Academy or you don't. We love Aspen Academy. Is it utopia? Nope. But our kids are extremely happy there! We love the teachers and believe it or not we love the administration. Do they deliver on their promises - Yep! Are my kids learning and eager to get to school? Yes. Is the Head of School perfect? Nope. Does she try hard to add value, follow the school vision and embrace our children? Yes. No school or administration is perfect but this school works for our kids exponentially better than our previous school. All involved do a great job. Not fitting in? Definitely concerned me when we signed up. In the wise words of the HOS - if you don't fit in, its because you haven't tried. AA works well for us it can work for you too!

'Kristina Scala is one of the most beautifully strong and positively compelling people I have ever met in my life. She uses her background and education combined with her sense of structure, ethics, and amazing presentation skills, to create an ideal environment for children in which a parent can implicitly trust their son or daughter's education is always the most important thing. She is a gift to her career.'

Aspen Academy provides an incredible education for its students, with better curriculum and teaching than any other school that I have experienced. The community is very engaged, the teachers are very engaged, and the administration has done a great job of setting the mission and vision for the organization. If parents do not want to be involved in their child's education, this is not the right choice. Family involvement is very important, and one of the key differentiators. While the education is quite rigorous, this school focuses on the whole student. Highly recommended!!

Aspen Academy is unequivocally not for every family looking for a private educational path. As a Founding Family, I have come to understand and cherish that fact. The families that embrace what Aspen Academy provides and what it stands for will be the families that have provided their child with a strong academic and social background. The parents will engage with other parents of similar vision and morals. These will evolve into lifelong, entire family friendships. I am 100% positive that Aspen Academy will provide the strong base needed for my child to succeed in the very challenging years of high school and college. Difficult decisions by the Administration are made by determining the best solution for the majority of the child population. This may not always go along with what some parents and/ or teachers may want.

I am writing to the parents of prospective students who are seeking an excellent educational experience for their child. My daughter, a recent graduate, was a student at Aspen Academy from the 6th-8th grade. Having been associated with other schools before Aspen Academy (charter and private) has given me some insight into why parents search out private schools and what qualities superior schools have. Aspen strives to provide for high academic standards. Curricula are well researched and carefully chosen. An example of this would be the Singapore math program which enables students to excel in deductive reasoning. The school also has the flexibility to individualize to best meet student's needs. Small student/teacher ratio allows each student to be known and approached as a unique individual. An appraisal of the student's learning style and character traits is conducted annually and fosters personal knowledge and understanding of each child.

As a parent of a student who graduated last year I awlays felt I had access to the teachers and that they really knew my daughter. Aspen Academy's Entrepreneurial Leadership program is unique among schools. Although my daughter participated in the program for only one year, I was impressed by her level of didcation and commitment to the development and operation of the school store, the eighth grade project. As part of this program, each student selects a mentor who follows them for the next ten years. What an unbelievable investment in my child's future. Character building, leadership, school community awareness/development and serving mankind are all foci at Aspen Academy. The faculty, staff, parents and students live their motto: Be Kind. Do Good. The culmination of our search for a great school ended with Aspen Academy. I know yours will too.

We did not find the school to be anything we were promised and watched our child lose interest in school. Some teachers worked harder than others, but administration did nothing to empower staff. Moral is low and so much turnover was blamed on the age of the school and teachers instead of on the lack of focus and content. When we chose not to re-enroll, we had to endure our child being excluded for the rest of the year. For a school with an only rule of being kind, we saw no example of that with the administration and there was no enterpreneur program for budding business people like our child. Lots of attention to the pretty hallways, but no substance. Our child is making up what was lost since the 'advanced math' never happened either, but is much happier at a real school with textbooks, procedures and plans.

I'm an 8th grader at Aspen Academy. This school is THE BEST. Every day I'm challenged by my teachers to reach and give my best. For example, there is a group of us who are taking Algebra II this year. It's the same class that my cousin is taking and he's a junior in high school. At Aspen, if you are willing to do the work for it, you can achieve anything. The teachers will do everything to support you. They're not alone. Our Head of School, Mrs. Scala is there for all of us. She knows and cares about every student. She's kind of like a hero to alot of us. Mrs. Scala expects kids to work hard and be kind. I can't believe what some of these parents have said about her on this site. They have no idea what they're talking about.

My child is starting his second year at Aspen. Like other parents I'm concerned about the faculty turnover. I do understand though, that this is still a very new school and it will take time for the staff to stabilize. I'm excited to see new courses offered this year, and expect continued growth of the school will create additional opportunities. My kid loves Aspen and can't wait to start a new school year, and that really says it all.

I had my daughter in Aspen after much searching for a 'gifted' school for her. I was led to believe she would fit pefectly that they chose their families and only picked the 'academically motivated' ones. Her teacher was beyond words fabulous, if it weren't for her, it would have been like any other classroom situation. I found that essentially it is a 'public school in a private school setting'. There were kids just like in a public school, from the 'no child left behind to the gifted. Of course the focus is on the most needy, the struggling ones. Once a decision was made to put our daughter into a regular gifted school we were shunned by administration as many others have noted. The teachers are truly passionate but unfortunately are controlled by administration.

I agree, Aspen has been hugely disappointing given the money (on par with other more established private schools) spent on tuition etc. The teachers, however, were excellent and I feel that my child had a very good year academically. The administration seems unforgiving, unyielding and unfriendly. The constant barrage of asking for money and more volunteering (6 or more e-mails per day to lay tile and shovel snow?!) Come on! In addition, if you aren't the type of parent that is on board and is there every single day doing lunchroom duty etc. you are shunned.

This school has been a big disappointment. Our child is in tears most nights from the rigid demands put on by the teachers during the day and then to go home with a large amount of homework . Teachers are frazzled, stressed out, and it trickles down to the student. My child is not having fun and most of the time dreads going to school. We are searching for a warmer environment for our child, certainly you can educate and have fun at the same time.

The overall experience has been a good one. My children academically have excelled more than they would have done at public school. It is such a pity that the school is let down by Administration. I won't take away the amazing work that has been accomplished but you are not allowed to challenge anything. The teachers look completely stressed and are not given the motivational support they deserve. The Board should have independent people on it to progress the school to the academic status it deserves. The Administration should have a strong academic background and worked through the ranks of a school to truly appreciate the whole puzzle.

I have to agree with the reviewer who mentioned the depressed and unkind environment and resulting unfortunate teacher turnover. Great vision, terrible reality.

Wonderful school. We started our son at Aspen as a Kindergartner, and he has flourished. He is curious, motivated and kind. His teachers understand that boys need to move and learn well when they can work out some of their nervous energy. There are multiple opportunities to get to know the teachers and staff, a wide variety of activities after school, and a very supportive network of teachers, staff and admin. Can't say enough that's good about this school. So happy we found it.

Disappointing and oppressive would be the two words to describe the school and the head of school. As a parent you're promised so much and nothing is delivered. Some teachers work their hearts out, but the building is center stage. Emotions run high because the head of school has no business doing what she does but the board is unwilling to take her down. Instead, bright students are held back, there is no 'enterpreneurial leadership' and the school operates to serve the head's own children. The administrators run everyone down to the ground and watch idly as time after time qualified and engaging teachers leave because they just don't need the meanness, drama and depression associated with the school. You can hang signs about kindness all you want but that doesn't make it true.

Aspen Academy is a great bang for your buck when it comes to private school! It has fantastic, caring teachers, a vision and curriculum to really drive home the importance of math and science all while making learning fun. Be prepared: this is a rigorous academic enviornment and can take some adjustment if coming from another school. Some comments have criticized the administration but I like that they implement changes and expectations that are in the best interest of the students and community. This is a cutting edge school that is not bogged down by the bureaucracy that often exists in other schools. they have a way to go in developing more comprehensive sports and extra curricular activities but the parent community is active and committed to its development

As a teacher who joined the Aspen Academy community in 2005 I have seen many things happen to help the school sustain and grow. The HOS and administration team have shown great leadership, tremendous support for staff and families in all areas and as a teacher I have been able to make decisions and be a part of leading the school in ways I was never able to in the public school systems. The staff is involved in many decisions that directly impact the curriculum, classrooms and programs that students and staff teach, learn and participate in. There is a freedom at Aspen Academy for the teachers that I have never had in any other teaching position and I truly enjoy having our Head of School and administration place the trust in the staff to help make decisions that will make Aspen Academy a 'Great' school.

This school has a remarkable visiona and mission. Unfortunately, the school has come up short in the efficacy and implementation of this vision. The teachers have been exceptional and really are some of the most amazing teachers in the nation. However, the HOS has been restrictive and has caused many teachers to leave each year, including this year. A teacher-led school was the promise and it has become a dollar-led school and that is sad to see. The curriculum is top notch, but it does not outweigh the drama.

My kids are so happy at Aspen Academy. They just thrive there. The teachers are fantastic, there are many extra activities for them to engage in afterschool, and the 'community' at A.A. is most welcoming. I am so grateful that this school exists.

Our family could not be happier than we are at Aspen Academy. Our children are recieving what we feel is the best education available in the Denver metro area, from teachers and administrators that are outstanding. We have recieved only the highest level of communication, dedication, and integrity from administrators and board members alike. You get out of a school what you put into it. For those that do, you will nevr find a better home for you and your children.

We are leaving Aspen after only attending one year not only because of the uncertain economy, but mainly because of a promise that went unfulfilled: differentiated instruction. Our child is highly gifted and we were promised that math and reading would be diffentiated for him, and while I see that reading may have been differentiated to some degree, the math has not. As a matter of fact, because his higher math skills are not being used or taught consistently, he is losing those abilities rapidly, putting a lot of the burden of teaching these concepts on me, the mother. We would have been much happier if he were allowed to go into a higher level reading or math class for instruction rather than staying with his age peers who are two years behind his skills. Parent involvement is great, families are so nice, but academics were disappointing.

Our family could not be more disappointed with this school. So many promises were made last year and this year that have been broken including the return of teachers and programs we were promised at information and enrollment sessions. We have really seen the administration in a new light after some information came to light recently, it is now clear that we have been terribly misled for several months now. We are very, very sad to leave the great teachers that shape our childs life and education every day, but it seems to us that the head of this school is no model for our child, causes chaos and drama, and the board lacks the courage to act appropriately.

Our family couldn't be happier with every aspect of Aspen Academy. The administration is top notch and willing to push the margins to make the school a true national model. The rigorous academics and caring community family community make Aspen Academy not only one of the best schools around but also the best value in town! Highly recommended!!

We are leaving this school solely because of the administration. I agree with a previous posting - the Head of School needs to go.

Our son was made to feel welcome at Aspen Academy by his classmates, teachers and staff. He is being challenged and is learning in many different ways, particularly the hands-on Science program. The teachers are creative in their lesson plans and committed to motivating our son to reach his potential. We are amazed by the energy and commitment of the head of school and her staff and while the parent community is asked to pitch in, those expectations were established in the admission process. Moreover, as the campus develops, there will be fewer requests. In the meantime, the parents have gained pride in their school, spent time with each other, and set a great example for their children when moving furniture or planting flowers. Also, the school does an amazing job of using tuition money wisely. Bottom line: students are happy and are engaged. It is a wonderful place to be!

There is so much to love at Aspen Academy, including my child's amazing teachers, curriculum, and love of learning. I volunteer often and have seen just enough of what others have called 'administration's antics' to say that I agree a change must be made. The administration seems to recruit amazing teachers thanks to the Head's extraordinary salesmanship, but the constant disrespect they face causes me pause. The teachers are the reason my child loves middle school, but I fear we'll lose them if this continues. The building doesn't make a school, the teachers and children do.

Our entire family fell in love with the teachers and other families at this school! We have stayed because the teachers are outstanding. Our child has continued to receive the best education possible from his middle school instructors, but we are totally dissatisfied with the administration; we are worried also about the teachers who have been unable to make it through the school year under the current heads' leadership. We are asked almost weekly for more and more money in addition to our tuition for multiple children. We are tired of this and of feeling like at any moment there may be more turnover due to the administrations' antics. This school should be run by the past and present teachers who have been so smart and caring and patient and who model kindness and honesty every day like the mission states.

What a great place for children to learn! Our children are thrinving from all the many opportunities they have. Small classes, outstanding teachers, high academic expectations and curriculum, and the many extra-curricular activities that are being offered make their days the best ever. More and more opportunities are being offered all the time and when there is excitement at the dinner table about what was learned at school today we know this is the best school for us.

I love this school! What a great discovery! My older child was the first to try out Aspen Academy. It is her second year. I started my other child based on the academic progress my older child has made and her growing awareness of community giving. My older one wants to donate the allowance money she has not spent to a food bank supported by the school, Kids Kafe, as a Christmas gift. This school also has a friendly and postive parent community. The teachers (that I have met so far) are wonderful and strong leadership in the administration has made this a good school experience for our family. Thank you Aspen Academy!

I am thankful for Aspen Academy. We began our second year with the school this fall and our child continues to thrive both socially and academically. She has learned that she is accountable for her own actions which is an invaluable lesson as she becomes a young adult. The teachers are amazingly talented, competent and caring and provide an academically challenging environment on a daily basis. The students learn a lifelong love of learning that will stay with them for a lifetime.

My experience with this school has been nothing but disappointing. The teachers are overworked for very little pay. The administration has not been truthful in what they provide regarding curriculum and they will do anything to get more money. The Head of School needs to be removed in order for this school to survive.

When your kids are excited to go to school everyday, something must be going right. Aspen is providing an exceptional educational experience and not just academics. The kids are expected to be accountable for their actions, respectful and are challenged academically. The families are challenged to model the behavior as well. I agree with the statement 'you get what you put into it.' The head of school is one of the most dedicated souls I have ever met and does not expect anything that she would not do herself. We have been delighted with our child's teachers every year and the team of teachers is strengthened every year. Wonderful school!

We have nothing but great things to say about Aspen Academy. The teachers are fabulous and develop personalized instruction plans for the students. The Head of School, Kristina Scala, is a true visionary and meets all the lofty goals she sets for the school. We have a true community of families where everyone is kind and there is no time for gossip. I can't imagine sending my children anywhere else!

This is our 4th year at Aspen Academy. We love it! The teachers are exceptional, caring and kind. The new building and location are great. While the school has a demanding curriculum, our kids find time participate in many of the extracurricular activities that Aspen offers: theater, competitive soccer, dance/cheer, piano and guitar. While the school will expect your involvement through volunteer work, I find you get out of it what you put into it.

I am not at all impressed with Aspen Academy. My children attended there for 3 years. For the tution fees around $10,000/- per school year kids are better off in public than Aspen. Academically poor and it looks that they want to fill up the class to get tution fees and not looking for the kids that are gifted and talented or the higher learners.

Last year and this year, we have been very happy with our child`s teachers. But what we were told by the administration and what we actually see is two different scenarios. Tuition has increased but the salaries and the curriculum has not improved incrementally with that tuition raising. The teachers are really extraordinary, they exceed our expectations every day; The problem is the best teachers cannot be retained. We were told many times last year early on that every teacher was returning, this turned out to be untrue. At this point we are extremely concerned about teacher and family turnover, and about programs we were promised that were never delivered.

Aspen Academy is an amazing school! My child has been here since the beginning and the level of education is exemplary. I noticed some comments on teacher turnover and in my opinion everyone was necessary. A new school will have some of the starting teachers leave in order to find the ones that have a high work ethic and the same high standards set by the school. not all work out and I for one am extremely grateful to the administration for recognizing this and making decisive choices instead of subpar teachers continuing. The class sizes are small and my child has been able to learn and grow in a safe environment and develop with their own voice.

We were excited to be part of this school when it opened. Initially, many wonderful programs were advertised as part of the curriculum, such as Technology, Robotics, Gardening, and competitive soccer . We stayed in part waiting for these programs. To date, none of have been provided. In spite of the lack of these programs, the tuition has continued to increase.....to over 10K. Another disappointment has been the high rate of teacher turnover. My child 'lost' 2 teachers midyear last year, 3 more at the end of last year, and yet another this week. Teachers this year in particular, have been amazing in their willingness to provide instruction to create success for our child. From my perspective, it appears that the administration has a negative impact on the climate at the school and perhaps promises more to famillies than can be delivered.

Some big class sizes. Not many teachers to pick from. Some recent events have me and my wife questioning the way teachers are treated at Aspen. We decided to enroll our children for next year; but now we are thinking about putting them somewhere else. There have been many good changes the past year; but we are disappointed in the leadership of the school head.

Wonderful teachers, less than wonderful administration. There are definitely favorite families. Its hard to get a straight or honest answer from the administration. People who stay do it for the teachers. They are spectacular. Not enough good points to make the argument for an elementary tuition of 10K for a 6 year old.

This school offers smaller classes, as a parent though like others I am worried about the teacher turnover. The school is on its third science and history teachers in a year and a lot of teachers in the elementary did not return this year. We are having a hard time fitting in too, there seem to be families who are 'in' and ours doesn't seem to be one of them.

Disappointing. School claims to individualize but has some huge lower school classes. Middle school classes good but so small we sometimes wonder if this is really good for our child. We stay only because of the teachers but this is not a guaranteed, last year there was very high turnover.

My child attended this school for one year. It is a very small school one class per grade and the upper grades 4/5/6 all are one shared class. There is a clique here it is difficult for new families to fit in. Some of the teachers are fantastic, but they have had a lot of teacher turnover. There is tons of homework even as young as Jr K. Your child will be academically challenged that is for sure. But Im not sure they have the resources for a well rounded child.

This is a school that does what it says in every sense. Our kids are thriving academically and personally. Their teachers and classmates are extraordinary. What an amazing group of people who have had the courage to begin a school that is so great for students, families and teachers.

Aspen Academy teachers, children, staff and parents are the best prescription for whatever ails your soul. Thank you for letting me be a part of art week.

This is the worst school experience of my child's life. The teachers do not treat the children fairly in comparison with one another. I thought a smaller class size would be beneficial, but instead it gave more time to tell the children in excruciating detail what they aren't doing well. The highlight of this school is the parental involvement. Aspen Academy stresses academic excellence, but my child's test scores actually went down after attending this school. Interestingly, two teachers in this very small school left mid-year. I think that speaks volumes.

Outstanding school. This school is full of teachers, administration and parents who believe it is all about the children. Highly qualified teachers, positive atmosphere and full of happy children who love to be there. My children are academically challenged. Student/teacher ratio is low. The families that attend Aspen are some of the most incredible people I have ever met. If you have any doubt, spend 5 minutes with any parent from Aspen Academy, I guarantee you will want your family to be a part of this school.

We feel the school has a wonderful group of teachers who truly have our children's academic best interest in their heart. The school is progressing nicely into am established community even without our own facility. Aspen Academy excels at maintaining a small class size. The amount of time those teachers can spend with our students is greatly appreciated. The impact of small group time will be evident as my children lead with confidence that they know the material and can demonstrate their knowledge. My children both have very skilled and talented teachers. When we met for conferences I felt the teachers truly understood our children's academic abilities and learning styles.

Our children enjoy going to school. The receive the attention, support, and love they need from their teachers, classmates, and administrators. At their young age, our primary objectives are to have fun at school and be safe. We feel we belong to a special community at Aspen Academys.. Nowadays, it is challenging to get to know your neighbors and identify them. At Aspen Academy, we are surrounded by families that value their children's education and believe in building a community to facilitate their growth.

We believe Aspen excels in creating a strong sense of community, individualized academic programs, fantastic teachers, and focusing on the core subjects.

I feel that the teachers genuinely care about my children's personal growth and development. The assessments of our children looked at their academic, social and character traits very thoroughly. We are thrilled with how wonderful our teachers are and how much our girls have learned already. Aspen Academy excels at teaching a love of learning at a young age that will be the foundation of a lifetime of learning and growing.

My child enjoys coming to school. My child loves the teachers, classmates and principal. My child is treated with fairness and kindness by the entire Aspen Academy faculty. We are excited to watch our child excelling academically and being enthusiatic about school work. Aspen Academy excels at holding students accountable for their behavior and remaining consistent with the Love and Logic philosopohy which our family truly believes in. We also appreciate the many opportunities that we parents have to be a part of our child's educational experience at Aspen Academy. We really enjoy the close-knit community that we have here, and the fact that we recognize almost every student and parent in the school by name.

This small family-oriented atmosphere has given my children a secure, safe and stable place to learn and relate to others. Aspen excels at keeping the classes small. Aspen Academy is able to really know their students' abilities to excel and the teachers work with each child, encouraging them to succeed to their full potential.

I've been very impressed with the teachers' passion for teaching and making it a passion for the children to learn. The children have a great sense of family at Aspen Academy. The principal is wonderful in taking the time to know how each individual student is doing and not letting them just be a number. Aspen Academy excels at focusing on each student's style of learning and making them stronger where they are weak to continue to excel. They are great role models and show how everyone can make a difference in other peoples' lives and their community and even around the world.

My child continues to love school and the teachers. I appreciate the small setting and I know my child is getting more individualization than she would at many other places. I think Aspen Academy excels at instilling a sense of community and responding to parents, providing professional development to teachers, and looking for cutting-edge but proven curriculum.

My child's tranfer to Aspen Academy has been very smooth and very good. We love the class projects and the hands-on activities. They have added a new level of understanding that our child has not had before. All the teachers seem to have a very good understanding of our child's personality, his strengths and weaknesses. We feel this is very important.

The personal contact between fellow students and teacher have helped boost the confidence and determination in my child. My child has become more motivated and a much more keener thinker. Aspen Academy excels at making each child believe that they matter and that they are important. I believe that is very important. Aspen's ability to raise a child's self-confidence is also a great achievement.

We are quite happy with our children's teachers and new friends in school. They're being challenged and it shows in their school performance. If the kids are happy, then we're happy. The school has a phenomenal faculty staff who are creme-de-la-creme; great guest speakers and lots of field trips; personalized instruction and workbooks are helpful; good communication between parents & teachers; excellent curriculum & students are being challenged.

We have had our expectations exceeded in every area. Our child literally skips into and out of school every day. The intellectual challenges, the quality of instruction, and the overall community of the school are amazing. The school is excelling in the creativity of projects, the level of reading, science, art and music activities, and the sincere sense of 'belonging' that is created by the faculty, administration, students, and families.

Our child is comfortable and happy in school. The school provides our child an environment that allows learning. The administration and teachers are a positive community. As a family, we feel part of the Aspen Community. A positive attitude is so important and we feel Aspen has a very positive attitude. We believe the school excels at 1) Researching: techniques and curriculum that will best prepare Aspen's students to be the best educated and rounded students; 2) Creating a positive environment and attitude; 3)Balancing education with other important activities including music, foreign language, physical education, arts and community service.

My child's teacher is great! Room parents have been wonderful! My older child comes out of the classroom exclaiming that 'this is the best day ever!' on more than one occasion. There is flexibility with volunteer opportunities. Excellent parent involvement. Great to have piano lessons available at school. Would like better communication for changes in the classroom.

I love the opportunity for the middle schoolers to have teachers specializing in each of their respective subjects, as well as the opportunity for the kids to move from room to room for each subject. I also appreciate the occurrence of more quizzes and tests for the students - this is great preparation for high school and college. I appreciate the communication from the teachers and staff regarding my child's development. Aspen excels in great teachers and staff.

For the amount of tuition that Aspen Academy charges, there are several other schools who do a better job in about every category from academics to discipline to facilities.
