Mandalay Middle School Reviews

I think mandalay middle school is a wonderful place with a great staff.

This shcool is great! If you want to get involved with a sport all you have to do is sign up with the counslers. The parents aren't that involved.

All cirriculum is at or above grade level. Parents attend all functions. Music, drama, art and sports are available as are many clubs.

Mandalay is a good school that struggles with communication with it's parents. I have left messages several time with Teachers and Administrators with no returned phone call. My son was decent student at Castle Rock Middle school and has really struggled at Mandalay. The Teachers and Administration are very set in their ways and don't like outside suggestions.

We love this school! AR time challenges kids to read and most importantly comprehend what they read. The Principal is actively involved, as well as the Vice Principals. One VP is assigned to 7th and one to 8th grade. The grades are then divided into teams which become like a family within a family. What I love most is that Mandalay strongly believes that Middle school is not only academic learning, but there are physical and emotional aspects of a Pre-teen that they feel are just as important. I feel comfortable in the fact that they are helping my child to be a well rounded person who is expected to care for their fellow students. You get what you put into a school, if your actively involved you can notice how involved the teachers and staff are. Teachers provide before or after school help if needed.

My three children attended Mandalay, each for the full two years. The AR program seemed to be a failure for my household. And the school was over populated by far. While my youngest attended, there were problems with fights as well drugs. The musical program was wonderful, and the academics limited.

Mandalay is a good school for the 'mainstream' student. My son and daughter were both diagnosed with ADD. This school does not know how to deal with Children that are not mainstream. They don't have the time or the capacity. If your child can do well in any other school they can do well here. If they have special needs that are not apparent I suggest an alternative.

I appreciate the team approach this school takes in directing education. The leadership in this school is phenomenal.
